Avera is a Mexican brand that started approximately three years ago, specializing in the sale of home and kitchen electronics. Although its initial sales channel was marketplaces like Amazon and Mercado Libre, today its main sales channel is its online store, and its core value proposition is innovation, as they offer solutions that make your daily life a little easier.
We first contacted Avera in early 2023 with the primary goal of migrating their WooCommerce store to Shopify Plus . Seeking a more customized option, they attempted to build an online store from scratch using code, but it didn't work. They then decided to seek e-commerce experts to help them with this challenge, and we began working with them shortly after they shared their objectives with us. The result was an excellent collaboration with Rebuy , in conjunction with our expert Shopify team, which boosted Avera's key metrics. We'll tell you more below.

The Challenge: User Experience Optimization
One of their challenges at the time was that the platform was no longer meeting the needs and efficiency demands of the business, which was growing very rapidly since the creation of the e-commerce site. For example, to make simple changes they needed the help of a programmer, or to make changes to products they had to do it one by one, which took hours of their time.
Furthermore, they were looking to reach the next level by improving the user experience, as their key metrics , such as conversion rate, were declining. Finally, they wanted to focus more attention on certain products that were underutilized. Although most of their products are for the home and kitchen, some are geared towards pets, for example. However, it was difficult for users to find these products.

When we started working on the migration, one of the challenges was the timeline . Because Hot Sale in Mexico is in May, one of Avera's goals was to launch the new site securely after one of the most important e-commerce events in the country. Therefore, and this was the main challenge, we had to find a highly efficient way not only to create the online store from scratch in three months, but also to migrate the most important data from WooCommerce to Shopify Plus—35,000 users and 80,000 orders—register the 150 SKUs the store would launch with, and support them in integrating their ERP with Shopify Plus.
Solution: Migrate to Shopify Plus with Rebuy
While migrating to Shopify Plus is undoubtedly a good path to growth, and was the perfect solution to optimize and streamline their operations, we wanted to implement strategies in the store that would make users feel that "plus" in the user experience, in addition to Avera being able to improve its main metrics, such as conversion rate and average order value.
For this reason, we proposed implementing Rebuy's functionalities to personalize the user experience and, in doing so, boost the store's key metrics. Rebuy is an application that focuses on offering complementary products to users based on their order history or on rules set by the e-commerce platform. This way, we could increase the average order value, improve the user experience, and give more attention to underperforming products. Some of these widgets include Smart Cart, Frequently Bought Together, Related Products, and Checkout Extensions.

Migration to Shopify Plus
- Defining strategy: We conducted a thorough analysis of Avera's WooCommerce site and, as a team, collaborated to determine which pages, functionalities, and data to migrate to the new Shopify Plus store.
- Data migration: We were looking for an efficient, but above all, secure way to migrate our data. That's why we partnered with LitExtension, a service focused on cross-platform data migration. This allowed us to focus on building the online store from scratch on Shopify Plus, while data migration experts supported us in managing this aspect.
- Creating a Shopify Plus Store: Due to our challenging timeline, we opted to create the online store using a premium theme , or pre-built template, to launch this migration before the Hot Sale in May. We chose the Empire theme, which is designed for stores with large and varied catalogs, like Avera, and optimized for excellent performance.

Rebuy Implementation
- Smart-Cart: We implement and configure a smart cart that offers complementary products or services to the user based on the store's order history or the rules imposed by the business.
- Frequently Purchased Together: We set up a widget on the product page that recommends "bundles" of products that are frequently purchased together, offering an additional incentive to the user if they buy everything, and allowing them to add everything to the cart with a single click.
- Related products: On the product page, we include a widget that recommends related products from the same or different categories. While these aren't necessarily complementary products, they are products that the app detects the user commonly buys together.
- Checkout Extensions: Because Avera is on Shopify Plus, we added a widget to the Checkout that offers upsells or complementary products, allowing the user to add a product to their final order with a single click.

Result: Exponential Growth
After successfully completing a team migration and collaborating with Avera on the creation of their new online store, the overall improvements to the store quickly became apparent:
Exponential growth
- In just 60 days after implementing Rebuy, their average ticket increased by 12% by personalizing the user experience, in addition to having a faster site and with e-commerce best practices.
- They went from having one product per average order in WooCommerce, to having 1.2 products on average per order, thanks to the sales boost from Shopify Plus and Rebuy.
- 13% of their orders were generated by Rebuy, thanks to the complementary products or services it offered based on the artificial intelligence algorithm.
A self-managed store
- They went from depending on a programmer to make any changes, to setting up discounts and making changes to the online store, such as banners and product information, without depending on anyone.
- A change that used to take 3 hours can now be done in 30 minutes, thanks to the functionalities of Shopify Plus and additional plugins like Matrixify.
- You can configure the Rebuy tool to your needs based on the strategies you want to implement at the moment or within a certain season.
Better user experience
- Because the Empire template and the Shopify Plus platform are designed for scalability, the performance and speed of the online store were significantly optimized, resulting in higher sales conversion due to an improved user experience.
- Because the experience is better, the rate of repeat customers and user loyalty has increased since the migration to Shopify Plus.
- Now that the store has features like a quiz that helps you determine which water heater to buy based on your needs, there are fewer "obstacles" for the user to find the product they require.

Mireya Pacheco , Head of DTC at Avera, shares her testimonial about working with us:

Conclusion
Migrating from one platform to another can be very uncertain because so much is at stake, from data to user experience. Working with a Shopify expert team and advanced technologies like Shopify Plus and Rebuy can be a determining factor in the success of the migration.
In Avera's case, we can see how a decision like this can lead a business to grow exponentially, increase customer satisfaction with their purchase and experience, and therefore, sell more. For example, on a typical day, Avera sells as much as it did during its best days on WooCommerce, and on a slow day, they sell what they normally sold before. This is because they implemented many tools and changed the user experience to make it as personalized as possible.
While this is a specific success story, it's important to highlight the power of the Shopify Plus platform, especially if your business's primary goal is to reach the next level and you have the knowledge and tools to create a truly scalable store. At Getmore , we support you in making these migrations as seamless as possible, so your business can take your business to the next level.
