JousFit: From a High-Friction Store to a Full Shopify Plus Operation

JousFit: de una tienda con fricción a una operación completa en Shopify Plus

JousFit is a brand of sports supplements, apparel, and training programs, with Jous as the brand image, an active community, and a product with high repurchase rates. The core business was already functioning. What was worked on with Getmore was the digital operation.

The store was on Shopify Plus but built on a free template that barely utilized any of the platform's features available on that plan. The checkout was generic, Klaviyo had thousands of inactive contacts, and the brand's wholesale program was managed manually. These were three areas where concrete work needed to be done.

Redesign: A Store That Reflects the Brand

The first step was to rebuild the store with a more solid foundation. We chose Shopify's Focal theme, which works well for DTC brands with mixed catalogs, both physical and digital, and with an audience primarily accessing from mobile devices.

The architecture was designed so that the three pillars of the business—supplements, apparel, and training programs—each had their own navigation logic without competing with each other. And so that the JousFit team could manage daily content without relying on a developer for every change.

Custom Checkout: Connecting Digital with Physical

One of the clearest opportunities from the start was the relationship between digital and physical products. Someone buying a training program is exactly the profile that needs supplements. That connection was not happening at the right time.

With Shopify Plus checkout extensions and Rebuy as the recommendation engine, we configured logic to display relevant physical products at checkout based on what the user was buying. This isn't a generic "you might also like" block; it's a contextual recommendation that appears when the purchase intent is already active.

In addition, the checkout was modified in other areas: Jous's image to build trust at the most sensitive moment of the experience, reorganization of payment methods to reduce friction, and logic to show or hide the Mexican peso price legend based on the user's country.

To continue analyzing the experience with real data, we implemented Microsoft Clarity, which allows viewing heatmaps and session recordings directly in the store.

Klaviyo: Clean Base, Selling Flows

The Klaviyo list had grown over time without a cleanup strategy. There were thousands of inactive contacts generating monthly costs without generating results.

The first action was to segment and keep only active users: those who had purchased recently or registered after a clear cut-off date. The result was a smaller list but with a better open rate, better deliverability, and lower cost per result.

Based on this, we configured the most strategic flow for JousFit's business: the capsule repurchase automation. The product has a natural consumption cycle of approximately three months. The flow detects the last purchase and activates a sequence of emails just as the user is about to run out of the product, before they look for an alternative.

The Wholesale Program: From Manual to Automatic

This was the most complex project of the engagement, and also the one that most changed the day-to-day for the JousFit team.

The brand has a distributor program where wholesalers register, accept terms and conditions, and, upon approval, gain access to preferential pricing. The program has different discount levels that advance based on accumulated purchase volume.

The challenge was that the criteria for advancing between levels was not the amount in pesos, but the quantity of accumulated "bottles." And the specific problem was that the bottles could not be calculated by counting units in the cart. There are SKUs that represent one hundred bottles but which Shopify registers as a single item. With the platform's standard logic, there was no way to correctly make that calculation.

How We Solved It

The solution involved building a custom architecture on Shopify Plus that connected three things: products, customer profiles, and program rules.

Each product was assigned its real equivalent in bottles, regardless of how Shopify counts units. This equivalency feeds the profile of each wholesaler, who automatically accumulates their progress with each purchase and advances to the next level when they cross the defined thresholds.

We configured two automations:

  • The first runs with each order: it detects the purchase, converts it to its real equivalency, updates the customer's cumulative total, and, if it crosses a goal, automatically upgrades their tier. The change is reflected in prices, notifications, and visible content in the store, without anyone having to review or approve anything.
  • The second runs daily and reviews the activity of each wholesaler individually, demoting anyone who doesn't meet the periodic purchase criteria within their time window.

Access to Exclusive Resources by Level

The wholesale section also includes exclusive materials: photos, documents, brand guidelines, content for social media. Access is automatically controlled according to each user's level. An unregistered visitor sees nothing. An active wholesaler sees what corresponds to their tier. And the architecture is already prepared to add new access levels without additional development.

Why This Matters

Before this implementation, that process was manual or depended on costly external solutions to maintain. Now it lives within the Shopify ecosystem, and the JousFit team does not have to intervene for it to work. The complexity is in the initial design, not in day-to-day operations.

What We Learn from This Case

JousFit is a good example of a brand that already had traction, but whose digital infrastructure was not up to par. A conversion-oriented redesign, a checkout that works for the business, a clean Klaviyo with real flows, and a wholesale program that operates autonomously are decisions that any brand on Shopify Plus can make, and that determine whether growth scales with or without operational friction.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I have different prices for my wholesalers on Shopify?

Shopify has two paths depending on the plan. In standard plans (Basic, Grow, Advanced), you can work with apps for customer-specific or group-specific pricing. In Shopify Plus, the native B2B module allows you to create catalogs with specific prices per company, without external apps and with much more control over the distributor experience. For programs with complex logic, such as levels that advance based on accumulated volume, the solution requires additional customized architecture. If you want to know what applies to your case, tell us how your program works.

When does Shopify Plus make sense for a business with distributors?

When the wholesale program needs more than a fixed discount. Shopify Plus allows for customer-specific pricing catalogs, net payment terms, private access portals, and custom checkout, all without relying on third-party apps for each functionality. If you currently manage distributor orders via email, WhatsApp, or Excel, it's a clear sign that there's an operation that can be digitized and automated directly within Shopify.

How is Shopify Plus checkout customized?

Shopify Plus provides access to Checkout Extensions, which allow you to add custom blocks to the checkout process without touching the base code. You can display recommended products, trust messages, guarantees, brand images, or any element that helps close the sale at the most critical moment. In standard plans, the options are much more limited, although some alternatives exist with apps.

Why does Klaviyo's cost increase, and how can it be reduced?

Klaviyo's cost is calculated based on the number of active profiles in the account. When the list grows without a periodic cleanup strategy, inactive contacts accumulate who will never open an email or buy, but are still charged in the monthly bill. Cleaning the database by removing profiles without recent activity, and correctly segmenting who receives what, lowers the cost and improves deliverability at the same time. Some brands cut their list in half and end up selling more because the flows reach people who do respond.

What is Rebuy and what is its purpose on Shopify?

Rebuy is a personalization and recommendation app for Shopify that allows suggesting products at different points in the shopping experience: product page, cart, checkout, and post-purchase. What differentiates it from Shopify's generic recommendations is that it uses real user data, such as their purchase history or what's in their cart, to make contextual recommendations. For brands with mixed product catalogs, such as digital and physical, it is especially useful for connecting both at the moment of highest purchase intent.

What tools were used to automate JousFit's wholesale program?

We used tools from the Shopify Plus ecosystem complemented with specialized applications for logic that cannot be resolved with the platform's standard automations. The details depend on the specific rules of each program, which is why we evaluate each case individually. If you have something similar, tell us how it works and we'll see what makes sense for your operation.
